Dive Brief:
- An unofficial affidavit from Maricopa County, Arizona, listed AAA Cooper Transportation as acquiring a commercial site in Phoenix for $29 million.
- The property, located at 7160 W. Sherman St. and featuring a 294,658-square-foot building, involved EQT Real Estate, according to an archived website listing. Another commercial listing described the property as a truck terminal on 24.47 acres.
- The acquisition comes as AAA Cooper bolsters its network while also integrating other affiliates into its brand.
Dive Insight:
EQT had been acquiring trucking terminals in 2021 and 2022 across Phoenix, Atlanta, Southern California’s Inland Empire, Texas, and Wichita, Kansas, before selling a group of seven properties last year, the company said in October.
The site was previously used by FedEx Freight Priority, and it was sold in 2021 for $24.1 million, according to a county record.
“As we have grown our facility count faster than our shipment count over the past two years, this has weighed down margins,” Adam Miller, CEO of AAA Cooper parent company Knight-Swift Transportation Holdings, said on a Q4 2025 earnings call. “But we expect a more deliberate pace of network expansion in the near term will allow us to restore margins as we continue to grow into these investments.”
Knight-Swift projected on the January earnings call that its existing infrastructure had the capacity to support annualized revenue of $2 billion.
