Longtime ArcBest leader Judy McReynolds will retire as CEO at the end of this year but continue to serve as chairman of the board, the company announced Thursday.
Company President Seth Runser will take over as CEO on Jan. 1, 2026, and will also join the board of directors.
McReynolds has worked with the Arkansas-based transportation company for 28 years and spent over three decades in the industry. She became CEO of the company in 2010, leading “the company’s transformation into a full-service, multibillion-dollar logistics powerhouse,” ArcBest said in a news release.
“Under her leadership, ArcBest has been a pioneer in the industry, making smart investments and implementing innovative technology at scale to deliver customized logistics solutions and provide a premium customer experience,” lead independent director Steven Spinner said.
McReynolds started with the company as director of corporate accounting in 1997 before taking on the roles of controller, VP-controller and chief financial officer. ArcBest announced in 2009 the then 47-year-old would take over as CEO starting Jan. 1, 2010.
Runser has spent 18 years with the company and became president in August 2024, a step up from his time as president of ABF Freight, the LTL carrier of ArcBest. He began as a management trainee; he helped the carrier navigate the COVID-19 pandemic as well as record highs in revenues and complete a five-year bargaining unit renewal; and added over 500 doors in recent years.
The announcement comes amid further change for the company starting next year — when former C.H. Robinson Worldwide executive Mac Pinkerton will start as ArcBest COO of asset-light logistics on Jan. 5.
Retirements of longtime execs are fueling the changes. Pinkerton’s announcement fills the retirement of Steven Leonard, who had 24 years of service with the company. Former Chief Innovation Officer Michael Newcity capped over three decades with the company last year as Dennis Anderson took over the role.
