Universal Logistics Holdings named Michael Rogers CFO and treasurer effective June 1, the company announced in a press release last week.
Rogers, CFO of Conlan Tire Co. and Hercules Materials Holdings, also previously spent about 30 years with Ford Motor Co. in finance-related leadership roles, per the release. He also has been CFO of Universal’s intermodal business unit since May 2023, according to his LinkedIn profile.
Universal Logistics CEO Tim Phillips said Rogers brings a depth of financial, operational and leadership experience to the company.
“We believe Mike's background, judgment and familiarity with Universal will make him an outstanding addition to our senior leadership team,” Phillips said in the April 8 announcement.
Rogers said in a LinkedIn post that his focus will be on strengthening Universal Logistics’ financial foundation and driving sustainable long-term shareholder value.
Rogers takes over for Jude Beres, who has resigned and is leaving the company May 29, the release said. According to the company, he’s leaving to pursue other opportunities outside the transportation and logistics industry.
Beres has been with Universal Logistics since April 2015, joining the company as chief administrative officer before becoming CFO in April 2016, per his LinkedIn page.
CFO tenures have been shrinking in recent years across industries, and turnover in the role reached a seven-year high in 2025, driven by retirements, according to a Russell Reynolds Associates index.
