Fuel Transport named Ray Blackwell general manager of sales and operations for its U.S. business, the company announced March 16.
The former C.H. Robinson Worldwide executive will oversee scaling of the transportation and logistics company’s U.S. operations, one of Fuel Transport’s fastest growing markets, per the release. He will be based in the company’s Chicago office.
Robert Piccioni, CEO and founder of Fuel Transport, in a statement said Blackwell’s experience and leadership in the transportation industry make him the right person for the role.
“He will be a key driver as we expand our U.S. presence while continuing to provide exceptional service to clients across North America,” Piccioni said. The company added Blackwell’s track record in organizational development positions him to “bring a fresh strategic and operational perspective” to the company.
Blackwell has served assorted executive roles during his career, according to his LinkedIn profile, which also noted his new role began in November 2025. Much of that time was in leadership positions with C.H. Robinson, including as VP of enterprise accounts, where he focused on the company’s strategic growth.
Blackwell said Fuel is positioned for growth in North America. The Montreal-based company recently bolstered its operations in Toronto to support growing client demand for cross-border operations between Ontario and the U.S. Midwest.
“The opportunity in the U.S. is significant, and what stands out most is the ambition behind it,” Blackwell said. “There’s a clear willingness to think differently and build for the long term.”
