Joe Vitiritto was named president of Knight Transportation, effective Feb. 2, according to a press release.
Vitiritto, who resigned as president and CEO of PAM Transport last June, has previous experience with Knight-Swift Transportation Holdings, the parent of Knight Transportation.
He served an assortment of leadership roles with the carrier between 2003 and 2020 before joining PAM Transport, per the release. He returned to Knight-Swift in November as EVP of operations support.
Knight-Swift said in the release Vitiritto’s experience leading through change while maintaining a strong operational foundation positioned him well for the new role. The carrier added that he “brings a leadership style grounded in accountability, collaboration, and execution.”
“Since returning to Knight, he has shared how energizing it has been to once again experience the entrepreneurial spirit and relentless drive for our people, and to see firsthand how teams across the organization continue to look for ways to improve every day,” the company said in the release.
As the trucking industry navigates a prolonged weak freight market that has lingered for more than three years, Knight Transportation said Vitiritto’s priorities will include driving profitable growth while maintaining cost discipline.
