Editor’s Note: This story is part of a series about how carriers are using AI in their daily operations.
Schneider National is leveraging artificial intelligence to streamline its logistics workflows and reduce inefficiencies, according to an emailed press release to Trucking Dive.
The carrier is using technology from EXL, a global data and AI company, to digitize and optimize appointment scheduling from intake and processing to reporting.
Since the collaboration commenced, Schneider has achieved a more than 50% improvement in average cycle time to schedule appointments and 24% reduction in the cost per appointment scheduled, per the release from EXL.
The trucking industry has long been affected by scheduling inefficiencies, per the release. Leveraging technology is one way several carriers and logistics firms are taking action to solve present challenges to workflows.
C.H. Robinson, for example, ramped up its automation creating a technology to eliminate manual processes from scheduling and pickups. Other carriers and logistics providers that followed similar paths include Roadrunner, ArcBest and Ward Transport & Logistics.
“Embracing digital transformation is key to our mission of providing solutions for our customer and drivers,” Mike Kukiela, SVP of operations supply chain and distribution management at Schneider, said in the release.
