Schneider National announced Wednesday that Jim Filter, EVP and group president of transportation and logistics, will be promoted to president and CEO on July 1.

Filter will take over for Mark Rourke, who will transition to executive board chairman, the company said. Rourke, who has been CEO since 2019, will continue aiding the leadership team and contribute to shaping the carrier’s strategic direction.
The move is part of the Wisconsin-based carrier’s leadership transition meant to ensure continuity and position the company for growth, per the release.
Filter said his focus is on building on the momentum Rourke and the leadership team created.

“Schneider is well positioned for significant growth, and I’m eager to lead our talented team in advancing our technology solutions, expanding our multimodal network, and driving operational growth and excellence to create enduring value for all stakeholders,” he said.
Filter has nearly three decades of experience with Schneider National, holding a variety of leadership roles in logistics and supply chain management in that time.
Rourke said Filter is a proven leader and is the right person to lead the company.
“Schneider’s strength has always been its ability to adapt and lead in a constantly changing environment,” Rourke said.
Schneider National said Rourke has been instrumental in advancing the carrier’s position in transportation and logistics.
He is credited for guiding the company’s intermodal growth and expansion of its dedicated business, which has included recent acquisitions of Cowan Systems and M&M Transport Services.
