XPO appointed Jonas Svedlund chief legal officer, according to an Aug. 10 press release.

Svedlund, whose appointment was effective immediately, most recently was deputy general counsel for Thermo Fisher Scientific, where he oversaw the company’s corporate and commercial legal functions, per the release. He also held executive roles with General Electric, including time as general counsel for two separate GE businesses.
Mario Harik, chairman and CEO of XPO, in a statement said Svedlund is an accomplished executive who will help the carrier advance its strategic priorities.
“He brings deep legal expertise and a proven ability to partner with organizational leaders at every level,” Harik said in the release.
Svedlund succeeds Wendy Cassity, who was XPO’s chief legal officer and corporate secretary from March 2023 through June 2026, according to her LinkedIn profile. Cassity informed the company in May she was resigning for personal reasons on or about June 18, according to a regulatory filing.
Additionally, the LTL carrier appointed Michael Keenland, non-executive chairman of United Rentals, to its board of directors last month. His appointment, which was effective immediately, expanded the company’s board to eight members.
