A. Duie Pyle has opened a new site at a former Yellow Corp. facility in West Virginia, opening the carrier’s territory to the northern part of the state.
Customer needs prompted the expansion, which will help fuel long-term growth, COO of LTL Solutions John Luciani told Trucking Dive.
“When Bridgeport became available in the Yellow auction, we jumped all over it,” he said in an interview. “We have full state coverage now.”
The LTL provider’s other service center in West Virginia is in the Charleston area. Coverage for the northern part of the state previously came from Pittsburgh.
A. Duie Pyle’s new site in Bridgeport opened on June 9. Five drivers and two leaders are currently serving the 24-door site, which is located on 3.3 acres, Luciani said.
The new service center was part of a $29.4 million winning bid for four properties at a court-supervised auction in late 2023.
Other sites in that purchase included Pennsylvania facilities in Camp Hill and Erie, as well as one in Rochester, New York.
The Camp Hill and Erie sites opened earlier this year. The Rochester facility is scheduled to open next month, Luciani said.

The Bridgeport property’s purchase price was $1.9 million, but the company also took on costly repairs for the service center, notably in its yard, Luciani said.
Both the Bridgeport and Rochester properties required extensive work to prepare them for use, which included removing material, stabilizing soil, pouring new concrete aprons and repaving the entire yard, he noted.
The Rochester site will add needed capacity in upstate New York, especially since service centers near Syracuse and Buffalo cannot be physically expanded.
The Yellow deals came at an opportune time, as Yellow’s bankruptcy opened up real estate in key markets and locations.
“The timing was just right,” Luciani said. “There were strategic purposes.”
