FedEx Freight terminated EVP of Chief Specialized Services and Commercial Officer Michael Lyons and said the executive committed a code of conduct violation, according to a Sept. 2 securities filing.
“Following an internal investigation, the Company determined Mr. Lyons violated its Code of Conduct and no longer met the standards of employment at FedEx Freight,” the LTL carrier said in the filing.
Lyons oversaw sales, revenue quality, marketing, customer experience and communications as well as international and specialty trucking solutions, the company previously noted. His responsibilities will be transitioned to other members of the carrier’s executive leadership team as it searches for his replacement, per the filing.
FedEx Freight said in an email to Trucking Dive that it would not provide additional commentary beyond what was included in its regulatory filing.
Lyons’ appointment to his role at FedEx Freight was announced by former parent company FedEx Corp. during an earnings call in June 2025. He was one of several executive appointments announced ahead of the June 1, 2026, spinoff of FedEx Freight, with Michael Rodgers named chief technology officer, Clint McCoy as COO and Eddie Klank named chief human resources and legal officer.
FedEx CEO Raj Subramaniam said during the June 2025 earnings call that he was “confident that this mix of strong external FedEx Corporation and FedEx freight talent will set up FedEx Freight for success.”
Prior to joining FedEx Freight, Lyons spent nearly two decades with FedEx. He had served as SVP of custom critical and freight strategy with the parcel giant before his most recent role.
