The Florida Trucking Association appointed Scott Perry as president and CEO effective June 1, the organization announced May 21.

Perry’s familiarity with the FTA “make him the right person to lead the organization into the future," Board Chair James Sadler said in the release.
“Scott Perry is exactly the proven leader Florida Trucking Association needs to continue its momentum,” said Sadler, director of transportation and maintenance for Publix Super Markets. He noted Perry’s connection to the Florida transportation community and welcomed his experiences in operations, technology and advocacy, adding Perry’s ties to the FTA run deep.
He is a long-time member of FTA’s board of directors and executive committee. Perry served as chairman in 2021 where he advocated for safety, technology and efforts to modernize the trucking industry’s image and strengthen workforce recruitment.
Perry most recently was VP of operations for Proficient Auto Logistics, per his LinkedIn profile. His more than three decade career included 26 years at Ryder System where he held a range of operational and leadership roles in logistics and transportation, including chief technology and procurement officer.
Perry was also previously president of specialized logistics for The Suddath Companies.
FTA said Perry has spent more than a decade fighting against human trafficking and helped mobilize awareness, prevention and action as part of his advocacy efforts. He served as board chairman for Truckers Against Trafficking for 10 years.
Perry looks forward to his new role with FTA and working with carrier and supplier members and state agencies and officials.
“Together we will continue to make Florida's transportation environment one of the best in the country,” Perry said in the release.
Perry takes over for Alix Miller, who served the role the past four years and now is a senior principal for TSG Transportation Advisors, per her LinkedIn.
