Schneider National named manufacturing executive Austin Ramirez to its board of directors, the carrier announced June 24.
While Ramirez’ appointment happened in April, the announcement comes just days ahead of Jim Filter, EVP and group president of transportation and logistics, taking over as president and CEO on July 1. Filter succeeds Mark Rourke, who has been CEO since 2019 and will transition to executive board chairman.
Rourke said Ramirez’ executive background and manufacturing operations expertise complements his understanding of industrial operations. Ramirez also has extensive experience in corporate finance and governance, according to the carrier's announcement.
“He brings a thoughtful, strategic perspective and a values-driven approach that aligns well with Schneider’s culture,” Rourke said. “His insights will be invaluable as we continue to execute our long-term strategy and create value for our shareholders.”
Ramirez is CEO of Wisconsin-based Husco, a global engineering and manufacturing company that specializes in hydraulic and electro-mechanical systems for automotive and off-highway applications, per the release. He is credited for guiding Husco to triple its global sales to more than $600 million.
Ramirez said Schneider’s culture was a draw for him and sees “clear opportunity for growth in a dynamic industry.”
Ramirez is a former White House fellow, a leadership program founded by former President Lyndon Johnson, which provides participants opportunities to work in the federal government. He also previously served as a consultant with McKinsey & Co., where he focused on corporate finance and industrial operations, the release said.
