Daimler Truck North America appointed Rakesh Aneja SVP of engineering and technology, the company announced May 28.

Aneja most recently served as head of corporate development, leading strategic planning, autonomous technology initiatives and joint venture development, per the release. In his new role, Aneja will lead the company’s engineering organization and oversee technology strategy and product development.
Aneja will also serve as a member of Daimler Truck North America’s operating committee.
President and CEO John O’Leary said Aneja brings “the right balance of vision, discipline and operational rigor to the team.” The company detailed a strategy last month to improve profitablity after reporting North American truck sales in 2025 fell 26% from the prior year.
“His experience, coupled with steadiness, a strategic mindset and technical depth, will strengthen our ability to execute at scale and accelerate the innovations that define our future,” O’Leary said.
Aneja has nearly three decades of engineering and leadership experience in North America and Europe. He has been with DTNA since July 2016 and, prior to that, was with Daimler AG, which was part of Mercedes-Benz until it was spun off in 2021.
DTNA said early in Aneja’s career, he held senior leadership roles that oversaw vehicle platforms, propulsion systems and advanced engineering programs. He has also led global teams and worked closely with manufacturing, supply chain and quality organizations to support large‑scale product launches.
Aneja recognizes technology is evolving rapidly and reshaping the future of transportation.
“Our responsibility is not only to advance innovation, but to deliver it at scale with discipline, speed and quality,” he said.
Aneja succeeds Randy DeBortoli, who is retiring after more than 33 years with the organization.
